How To: Shelf Styling For Kitchen

April 20, 2022
London
Creating a soft space with picturesque finishing touches has been paramount in my recent home update.. My Kitchen has undergone a much needed renovation and I am so grateful I have the ability to do this after many years living in my home, A kitchen – big or small – should inspire you to explore your Pinterest ‘save for later’ recipes right? So I opted to go for a clean canvas with modern farmhouse finishing touches to open up my small kitchen and give it character. You may be in the same position as me (redecorating) or you simply want to adapt this look to another room. Never the less, sharing is caring, so here is some quintessential cottage-core  ‘shelf styling inspiration’ – if it has you under it’s spell too.

How To Think Like A Stylist...

When it comes to styling a shelf, it often is based on a gut feeling. I always pull out my favourite piece(s) first, place it on on the shelf, step back and then build out from that. If a cord isn’t struck when I mention ‘gut instinct’ then I promise you… Pinterest is your best friend! I created an entire Dream Home Board dedicated to home inspo which I think you should check out, especially if you do not know where to start.
1. work out that your aesthetic/style is. Pinterest. Instagram. Books. Hashtags.
2. Curate a collection of pieces that fit with that style. For me, this also includes practicality i.e. I have a draw of seasoning underneath, but salt and pepper is what I use the most. I found pretty grinders and made sure the it stays out!
3. Get stuck in. When you put an item of the shelf, you can always take it back off. It’s not stuck. take a moment to really step back and look at it in the room. Make mistakes because even for the professionals, it’s all about trial an error. Or you know what? Just copy something that you have seen and absolutely love. Us influencers are influencing for a reason!
4. Maintain the shelf. When practicality comes into play, I tend to use a few of the items on the shelf (above). I make sure that every time I do my kitchen wipe down that I am topping up, replacing and cleaning the products. don’t loose your pretty shelf vibe queen!
